SR HELENA MKAKA CELEBRATES GOLDEN JUBILEE IN CONSECRATED LIFE

It is well said that ‘It’s gratifying to serve God joyfully and with dedication‘. Such was a point of departure for Fr. Joseph Kimu’s homily on the occasion of 50th anniversary in consecrated life of Rev. Sr. Helena Mkaka of the congregation of Sisters of the Divine Providence on Saturday, 9th June, 2018 at St. Augustine Cathedral in the Diocese of Mangochi – Malawi. Quoting great men and women of History in the Church such as Ss. Paul the Apostle, John Paul II and Mother Teresa of Calcutta, he repeatedly compared vocational life to a book that is written each day and every moment and that the chapters being either desirable experiences worthy drawing lessons from or trash to be regretted. In vocational life, one is in search for meaning of one’s life. Thru and thru, Fr Kimu underscored three virtues of humility, faith and perseverance to be strong pillars to a well lived vocational life

Malawi’s 2017/18 academic calendar draws to an end. 21nd June, 2018 starts the famous MSCE Exams. Tensions are obviously high for fourth year learners in secondary school education studies. It is time to separate men from boys. A contagious fear is passed on from learners to teachers, from one academic institution to another and off course from wards to their guardians. No one is left out. Yes! It’s MSCE phobia.

On a Saturday, 17th June 2018 saw SPAS fraternity holding a joint grand celebration. The Seminary bid farewell to 25 form four seminarians and celebrated the feast Ss. Peter & Paul the Apostles on the very occasion.

It all began with highest activity, a Holy Mass. Rt. Rev Bishop Montfort Stima presided over the Mass in seminary’s students’ chapel. Seminarians, formators, teachers, guardians, alumni, priests and distinguished guests were in attendance. St. Bakhita Catholic High School in Balaka was a guest school of the occasion.
DMI UNIVERSITY FOR ST JOHN THE BAPTIST

June 22, 2018 is a day that will forever be remembered in the annals of Daughters of Mary Immaculate University (DMI) at St John the Baptist Campus in Mangochi for thus the day, DMI University celebrated the feast of the nativity of St John the Baptist its patron saint. In the Roman Liturgical Calendar, the feast of the nativity of St John the Baptist falls on June 24, and the anniversary of his death comes on August 29 each year. His Lordship Rt Rev Bishop Montfort Stima of the Diocese of Mangochi who is also the Pro-Chancellor of DMI was the the guest of honor on the festive day.

DIOCESE OF MANGOCHI TO ORDAIN ONE DEACON
All is set for the diocese of Mangochi to ordain their only deacon to the order of priesthood. The diocesan celebrations committee is set to hold this important function in a marvelous way than ever before. Deacon Richard Mbando is to be ordained on 07 July 2018 at Mangochi Cathedral at a Holy Mass which will be presided over by Bishop Montfort Stima of the diocese of Mangochi.
