A story of faith, generosity, and hope for the children of Wataka Village
Wataka, Machinga District — The story of Wataka Catholic Primary School is one of joy and inspiration. Moved by the needs of the children of Wataka, renowned Malawian musician Dr. Patience Namadingo, affectionately known as “Doc,” has generously built two school blocks in response to an appeal made by the school’s headteacher, Mr. Steven Khungwa.
The new blocks now stand complete, offering a peaceful and welcoming environment where children can learn, grow, and dream.
A Gift Dedicated to God
During a special handover and blessing ceremony, Bishop Montfort Stima of the Diocese of Mangochi, together with Sr. Patricia Daundi, the Diocesan Education Secretary, represented the Diocese. With gentle reverence, Bishop Stima blessed the new buildings, entrusting them to God’s care and asking for His grace upon this place of learning.
The new infrastructure comprises two school blocks: one contains three classrooms, and the other accommodates the Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher’s offices, a staffroom, a storeroom, and an infirmary for children.
Words of Gratitude and Encouragement
Speaking at the ceremony, Bishop Stima praised Dr. Namadingo’s generosity, saying:
“Dr. Namadingo’s kindness and determination in building this beautiful school block and administration block show his great care for the people and children of Wataka.”
The Bishop further encouraged the school community to take good care of the buildings, emphasizing that they serve as a vital space for both learning and collaboration among teachers and pupils.

An Act of Faith in Action
Wataka Catholic Primary School, located in Wataka Village, Machinga District, now stands as a living symbol of compassion and faith. Dr. Namadingo’s gesture demonstrates the power of turning good intentions into tangible impact. His reminder that “words are empty if not followed by action” captures the spirit of the day—a call to serve others through love and action.
A Future Filled with Hope
Today, the children of Wataka Catholic Primary School learn in an environment that feels like a gift, full of hope and possibility. Their dreams are nurtured by faith, guided by care, and strengthened by the kindness of those who believe in the power of education.
