As the Diocese of Mangochi embarks on the Jubilee Year celebration themed “Pilgrims of Hope,” various groups within the Church are undertaking special jubilee celebrations tailored to their respective communities. In a heartwarming display of inclusivity, the Church set aside two days, April 26th and 27th, for the children to participate in the Jubilee celebrations.
The Children Jubilee, aptly designed for Autumiki wa Ana, Mass servers, and liturgical dancers, allowed the young faithful to take center stage in liturgical activities. They were entrusted with leading roles such as choir performances, reading the Word of God, maintaining order and discipline in church, and making announcements.
Reports from various parishes in the diocese indicate that the Children Jubilee was a resounding success. At St. Magdalena of Canossa-Koche Parish, Fr. Paul Rappozo, the Diocesan PMS Director and Parish Priest, led the celebrations. The festivities began with a vibrant procession from Mlangeni Holiday Resort to Koche Parish Church, symbolizing the journey of hope.

The procession was met with joy and enthusiasm by the parents and faithful Christians of Koche Parish. Following the celebration of the Holy Mass, the children showcased their talents through skatches, poems, and choir performances of Jubilee songs.
Similar celebrations were held in other parishes, including Ulongwe, Chidzanja, Masuku, Nankhwali, Katema, Utale 1, and St. Mary’s. These events not only highlighted the importance of the Jubilee Year but also emphasized the value of nurturing the faith of the young.
As the Diocese of Mangochi continues to journey through the Jubilee Year, the Children Jubilee serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of empowering the next generation of faithful Christians. By giving children a leading role in the celebrations, the Church is fostering a sense of ownership and responsibility, allowing them to grow in their faith and become active participants in the life of the Church.
