Mary, why crying? Jesus has resurrected, see His clothes! This was just a part of one of the songs sung during a High Mass on 09th April, 2023 at the Cathedral of St. Augustine in the diocese of Mangochi. It was the Mass led by Rt. Rev. Montfort Stima, the bishop of the diocese of Mangochi. Indeed, people danced with joy in the church for the new life brought by Jesus through His paschal mystery.

Preaching to the flock gathered in the cathedral, bishop Stima said that Christians have to bring the message of resurrection of Christ to different groups of people like those who doubt about the existence of God due to presence of problems in their life; in fears due to hardships caused by other people, even those who are suffering because of the aftermath of Tropical Cyclone Freddy which hit terribly in the southern part of Malawi in Mid- March 2023. He further said that we (Christians) should not forget the love of God whenever we are in problems; we should not be blinded by problems of different kinds in our life. “We Christians have to show love to the people who are living in camps after being displaced by the floods. By doing so, these victims will see Jesus in us. It is not enough just to preach by mouth about the resurrection of Jesus, but also by deed,” said the bishop.

In the Catholic Church, the season of Easter starts immediately after completing the period of forty days of Lenten season- which is a period when the Catholics are encouraged to repent their sins or to die to sin and resurrect to new life with Jesus. The resurrection of Jesus marks the beginning of Easter season.
