NAMANDANJE — The Catholic Men Organisation of Mpiri Deanery, in the Diocese of Mangochi, held a deanery meeting at Namandanje Parish, bringing together representatives from the deanery’s six parishes: Namandanje, Nsanama, St. Mary’s, Mpiri, Holy Cross, and Masuku.
The deliberations focused on key pastoral matters affecting the Church’s life and mission. Members were called to promote unity, charity, cooperation, and fraternity within the Catholic Men Organisation and across all parishes of the deanery. This appeal was made in the spirit of Lumen Gentium 32, which highlights the vocation of the laity to build up the communion of the Church through mutual love and collaboration.
The meeting also emphasized the importance of stewardship and support for the Church. Members were reminded of their baptismal duty to contribute to the church’s mission through the giving of tithes (mtulo). This responsibility was presented in light of Canon 222 §1 of the Code of Canon Law, which obliges the faithful to assist with the needs of the Church so that she may have what is required for divine worship, apostolic works, and acts of charity.
The gathering provided an opportunity to discuss preparations for the forthcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the National Catholic Men Organisation to be held in the Diocese of Mangochi.
In his remarks, the Parish Priest of Namandanje, Fr. Aaron Khonje, urged all Catholic men to remain committed to the Church and to work together in building up their parishes. He encouraged them to embrace their role as men of service, in accordance with the lay apostolate affirmed by Apostolicam Actuositatem.
The meeting concluded successfully, with members reaffirming their commitment to strengthen unity and to actively support the evangelizing mission and development of the Church in their respective parishes.
