By Catherine Meso

“Be innovative, cast widely so that you can make a huge catch.” These were some of the words of the bishop of the Diocese of Mangochi, Rt. Rev. Montfort Stima today on 18th March, 2024, when he was opening a week training on Resource Mobilization. This workshop has been organized by Catholic Development Commission in Malawi (CADECOM) and will take place at Mwema lodge, just near the diocesan offices. The aim of this workshop is to train the staff members of the Diocesan Commissions to be able to source funds both in the diocese and also outside it, in order to achieve their goals as they serve the diocese.

Speaking in an interview with one of the facilitators, Mr. Carsterns Mulume, the Regional Humanitarian as well as Regional Program said, the workshop will help in the mindset change of the social development directorate and will assist them in bringing up all departments to work together and being able to cooperate towards one goal of uplifting their commissions. “We wish to train them to be collaborative as they mobilize funds for their commissions. They should not be working individually,” said Mr. Malume.

The Diocese of Mangochi comprises the commissions like the Diocesan finance Committee, Catholic Commission for Justice and Peace (CCJP), Catholic Health Commission (CHC), Catholic Education Commission (CEC) and Catholic Development Commission in Malawi, (CADECOM). The training has started today up to Friday, on 22nd March, 2024.
