Ulongwe health center receives a donation of a hospital structure from Japan

The Peoples Republic of Japan has donated a magnificent structure to be used as Out Patient Ward at Ulongwe Health Centre which is found at Ulongwe Catholic parish in the Diocese of Mangochi. The hand-over ceremony took place on 14th April, 2023. Mr. Oya Youich, the Ambassador of Japan to Malawi presented the structure on behalf of the people of Japan and Bishop Montfort Stima of the diocese of Mangochi received it on behalf of the people that surround Ulongwe parish. The state of art structure which has costed about MK64 million ($91 624) according to ambassador Youich has been built by Males Artisan contractor.

Speaking to the audience, bishop Stima thanked the embassy and the people of Japan for accepting their request so hurriedly.  He requested the people of Ulongwe to take care of the facility.

Fr. Mederick Chimbwanya as an administrator of the facility remarked that the hospital is under Christian Hospitals Association of Malawi (CHAM). It serves the people in the areas of Traditional authorities Kalembo, Chimwala, Kachenga and Amidu. It provides services in maternity, under five clinic, Anti Retro Viral (ART), TB Screening and minor surgical disorders.
