Diocese of Mangochi Celebrates Vocation Sunday with Hope and Devotion

In harmony with the universal Church, the Diocese of Mangochi joyfully celebrated Vocation Sunday, coinciding with the Fourth Sunday of Easter, also known as Good Shepherd Sunday. The festivities culminated at Mpiri Parish, where Rt. Rev. Montfort Stima, Bishop of Mangochi Diocese, led the vibrant gathering.

The Eucharistic celebration, beautifully officiated by Bishop Stima, set the tone for a day of reflection, inspiration, and consecration. In his homily, the Bishop emphasized the pivotal role of parents in guiding children toward their spiritual calling, stating: “It is the responsibility of parents to take care of their children and guide them to realize their vocation.”

The ceremony brought together distinguished guests, including priests, religious sisters and brothers, members of various congregations, and a Christian couple, representing the foundational vocation of Christian families. Each speaker delivered thought-provoking messages, urging young people to embrace God’s call across diverse paths within the Church.

Vocation Sunday traces its origins to 1963, when Pope Paul VI established it during the Second Vatican Council, highlighting the significance of discerning and responding to God’s call. As the Diocese of Mangochi comes together to nurture and support vocations, the faithful are invited to reflect on their own calling and the role they play in fostering a culture of vocation in their families and communities.

Through prayer, reflection, and communal support, the Church in Mangochi Diocese seeks to cultivate a deeper understanding of God’s plan for each individual, nurturing a new generation of devoted servants who will carry the torch of faith and service.
