Young people from across Mpiri Deanery have been encouraged to uphold sound moral values and embrace their vocation as witnesses of Christ in their families, schools, and communities.
The call was made by the Deanery Youth Chaplain, Rev. Fr. Leo Mpembedza, during a youth gathering held in conjunction with the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. The event brought together more than 300 young people from the six parishes that make up the deanery.
In his address, Fr. Mpembedza challenged the youth to become role models for their peers by living lives rooted in Christian values and by avoiding practices that hinder their personal and spiritual development.
“You are called to be witnesses of Christ in your families and communities. Uphold good moral values in your conduct and avoid early marriages, for your vocation is to build the Church of tomorrow on the foundation of faith and virtue,” he said.
As part of the celebrations, the deanery youth organised a colourful mock wedding as a fundraising initiative aimed at supporting the activities of the Deanery Youth Apostolate. The initiative forms part of ongoing efforts to establish sustainable income-generating ventures that will promote financial self-reliance among the youth and facilitate the purchase of spiritual books and other faith formation materials.
The fundraising activity realised a total of MK687,000, a significant contribution towards advancing youth apostolate programmes within the deanery.
The gathering concluded with prayers entrusting the young people of Mpiri Deanery to the maternal intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, asking God to grant them wisdom, holiness, and missionary zeal as they continue their journey of faith.
